We are Still Here

I know we are way behind, but I just wanted to post a quick update to let everyone who still follows this blog that Teagan is doing great!  We recently had a check-up with Dr. Day at the new Riverton office, can I just say what a joy and a pleasure that was, the new hospital is so clean and we were like the only ones there so we got fast service.  I knew this appointment was coming up so I have been working with Teagan, trying to get him ready for the x-ray, pluse ox, blood pressure, ect.  At home he was starting to relax and actually look forward to have his heart checked.  We took turns wearing the pulse ox, we tryed it on his favorite toys and brother too, just to show him it doesn't hurt and it's not scarey.  We even asked our family to fast with us the Sunday before the appointment and send a few extra prayers, not that his heart would be perfect, the hope was that he could relax so the staff could get good, accuret readings, so we could have something solid to go off of.  It seems like everytime we have a check- up he is so upset that Dr. Day has to go off of what  I say or guess if it's a good reading or not.  With him getting older and Ryan and I were planing on leaving the country for a week I wanted something solid to go off of.....Well as we all know with these kiddos it's just too much to ask because from the moment we entered x-ray it was non-stop tears, despite the practice, new toys, bring brother for support, all my efforts went down the tubes fast!  The x-ray showed that his heart seemed slighgtly large, but Dr. Day accredited that to he must of been holding his breath because he was screaming and the way his lungs and diaphram looked.  Then we couldn't get a blood pressure or oxygen saturation even after we asked the nurse to leave the room while I tried, the best we got was 79-80, but at home I was getting 80-85.  And to add to our afternoon circus it was time for some blood draws!  Luckily I talked them into letting us do it last, after the doctor exam.  We got enough blood with just one poke.  Dr. Day  was wonderful as usually and we are happy to say that we don't have to go back until the end of summer, he would like to put off the Fontan (Teagan's next OHS) for atleast another year, maybe more.  We adjusted his meds: Digioxin 1/day, 1.5ml; asprin 1/day, 1/4; Enalapril 2/day, 1.5ml; Septra same.  We wanted to make sure Dr. Day thought it was safe for us to leave him for 9 nights with my mom while we went on a cruise and he said, "If I say no can I go in your place?"  All joking aside he said he should be fine and that my mom could call him if she had any concerns.  He knew we were ancious for the blood test results and said he would call me that evening with the results. He did call during bath time so missed it, but he left a message that said he didn't have the results yet and would call me the next day.  Well I missed that call too, but the message said everything looked fine, his hamadicrit was 44.9, which is fine. he told us to enjoy our trip and he would like to see us at the end of summer as long as we felt Teagan was doing ok.  He is so personable and I always leave feeling comfortable and like we got all our questions answered clearly!
Teagan is walking, eatting, and saying more words everyday!  He is big into Toy Story and whatever brother is doing!  We feel so blessed to have him as a part of our family, I am greatful to be the mother of two beautiful boys who adore eachother and the wife of a wonderful husbend who povides so well for our family, he is my rock! GO TEAM PETTIT!
I hope this post finds you all well, especially all our little sweet-HEARTS, I wish we could keep in better touch with all of you!  As this new year begins, we look forward to making new memories and creating more family traditions!

I'm glad his results came back good. He looks amazing but I realized that doesn't always indicate that there is a problem.

I feel so bad that T hates his doctors appt. so much. But I am happy that he is doing well. I talked with him on the phone the other day and could not believe how clearly he is speaking now. Love him so much! Thanks for the post
