Day 1 in the PICU

Well we made it through the night and all is well. We got to see him at about 4:30 yesterday and spent a few hours by his bed. It was a lot of getting him comfortable on his meds and stabilizing his stats. He did not want to stay asleep and that was really hard to see him wake up and cry with no sound. We got here this morning and Teagan had a ok night still needed lots of Fentonal to keep him asleep. Today the goal is to get him off the vent and breathing on his own. So they have to let him wake up a little bit and he is not happy. So we pray for peace and rest and strong lungs. (his lungs have some mucus in them) Also he threw-up early this morning (blood) So they have a tube down to his stomach to suck it all out and they are starting his tummy meds. Gail has been our nurse yesterday and today and our night nurse was Heidi, all ones we have had before and love (Gail was the first to let me hold him last time). We have his crib all decorated with his Incredible stuff and he has his music and favorite blanket. I am so glad to have the surgery done. Dr. K feels really good about it. I asked what happens if his aorta does that again and he said very straight forward "it won't". So I have to trust him. Life up here is just as we left it, grateful our own trails as learn of other peoples. Teagan is a fighter and I know he can pull through again. Last night as I left I told him to go to a happy place and let GG rock him and sing to him, just promise to come back.
P.S. Next post will be pictures so be forewarned, they are not our happy little guy we are use to.
