Saturday and Sunday

Yesterday was a sidestep day. I was up most of Friday night with a sweet little guy who just loves four in the morning. So after his six a.m. x-ray and a puke, I was rocking him back to sleep when the cardio team walked in for rounds. Rounds are very interesting and I'm not one to complain because PCMC has saved my baby, but they all just look at him, in the dark mind you, a few listen to his chest, a lot of nodding, but nothing more is said than he looks good, sounds good. But yesterday the nurse prac., Linda, came in said on yesterday ECHO they found a clot, but don't worry you can still go home you just have to give him shots twice a day and then they left. So being the person I am I sat there in the rocking chair crying, looking at my baby and asking myself how am I going to give him shots twice a day? I called Ryan and he was on his way to sell his bike and then would be right up. Long story short we handled the situation and got down to how we would deal with the clot. Dr. Day apologized for how the news was delivered and answered all of our questions. This is a new clot, not one of the previous ones those still were never there. This one is in the superior vena cava where the pic line was, they believe after all the precautions, a clot formed around it. It is relatively small and blood can still get by, but it could move and travel to a organ or to the brain and cause a stroke. The best way to treat is shots, so that's our new challenge learning how to give our one month old baby shots twice a day. He had his first at four and we watched, Ryan yelled does it have to go in that far! I tried to console Teagan as he turned into a blueberry and didn't breath for what felt like eternity and now we get to do it to him ourselves for the next month. I pray I will have the strength to do it and that it will work. The good news is Teags has not puked for about 24 hours, knock on wood, he is real peaceful, his stats look great and he has been on room air for the past 24 hours. Ryan spent the night last night and made me leave since I've been in this room for the past five days. I slept at my parents with Mason, it was too hard to be alone at home. And then we came up here for church. It was testimony meeting, Ryan and believe it or not Big G bore their testimony's, Mason let the whole congregation know they did good by telling them so everyone could hear. We are worried about the news of a clot, but just like everything else we will deal with it a step and a day at a time.

That is exactly where Andrew's clot was. We had to give him Lovenox shots twice a day for 3 months! All I can say is, it gets easier. It goes by really fast. Good luck!

Well that is a little scary but he will make it through it and so will you. You have come so far and things have been going so good for a few days now...something had to happen right? All kidding aside i am so excited for you. You will get to go back home after being away for so long. Good luck and hopefully there is news that you are home tomorrow.

I'm sorry to hear of the clot...with everything that Teagan has been through, he is an amazing fighter and will once again come through this as well. Keep your chin up as Heavenly Father is watching over him and the example he has become.

Hugs,
Mike & Family

I'm sorry there is a clot. Hopefully it will get easier to give him his shots. If you need moral support, I'll come over. I'm used to giving shots to Macey, so it won't phase me too much. Glad you get to come home soon.

Wow!! this clot thing really sucks huh!!! Alex's was in his left ventrical and we have been giving shots twice a day for a couple months now.. Like I said, just have them hand you your nursing degree!!! It was very scary for me to do I think I cried for three days.. When I actually had to do it on the little football I was what my nurse called a "jabber"... Like Andrea said, it will get easier, Alex doesn't even cry anymore... He is just so used to it.... Maybe Teagan will get used toit too!!we only have four more days of them....

I would have cried too, and I did when I had to learn how to take care of Isaac before taking him home. All of this stuff is so overwhelming at times. I am thankful that it has improved drastically and I hope it improves quickly for you. All of these trials have made me a better person and I am a better Mom than I was before. Hang in there, you can do it.

PS. Welcome to the support group, sorry if I didn't welcome you yet, I'v e been busy lately.

Oh honey. I am so sorry. Yuck. I wish I could help you. If you need me to, call me and I will come over and give him a shot. ( really would, but I wouldnt like it) We love you guys. You are amazing, you guys inspire Ryan and I. You are so strong. You only cried for a little while, I would have cried for hours. I am crying just reading about it!
On the positive side, BBQ and slip and slide days are just around the corner! Everything and everyone at our house is anti-bacteria. Its the germ free zone! So, we should be able to bring Teag over once and a while! Cant wait to see you guys.
Much Love,
Tami, Ryan Thatcher (and the boys)
